Your Health Matters

How should you best protect your health, during a pandemic, or at any other time?

There are many safe, effective, and science-backed steps you can take to stay healthy, as an alternative or addition to what is suggested by the government.

A healthy diet is crucial in optimising health and immunity, not least because most of the immune system is located in the gut. A healthy diet means one based on real, whole foods that humans are meant to consume, rather than heavily-processed, 'food like products' that predominate in many supermarket aisles. Adequate vitamin D levels are also vital to ensuring good health, especially over the winter months when the main source of vitamin D, the sun, is scarce. So, make sure you get out into the sun whilst you can, aiming for at least 20 minutes exposure on your bare face (no sun cream) and forearms every day.

Stress, fear, and worry are all very bad for your health, and prolonging these states can undermine your immune system and make you more vulnerable to disease. The TV news and print media are often full of doom-mongering and worst-case scenarios, thereby increasing fear and stress, so we recommend taking frequent breaks from the media, and prioritising spending time with friends and family, getting out into nature, and generally enjoying yourself, as preferable - and much healthier - alternatives.
